Transformation Underway At Clay County Fairgrounds

Spencer, Iowa – A transformation is underway at the Clay County Fairgrounds, with the start of this year’s fair now just about two weeks away.

Clay County Fair General Manager Jerome Hertel says while the fairgrounds served as a hub immediately following the flood, the huge pile of debris on one of the parking lots has been completely removed. Crews could be seen Friday re-paving the lot and making repairs. Otherwise, as far as the flood was concerned, Hertel says contrary to what happened in other areas of Spencer, the fairgrounds were high and dry and escaped damage.

And as we reported previously, Hertel says fairgoers will be able to help flood victims.

The Clay County Fair Powered by SMU runs September 7th through the 15th.
