Two From Lester Die In Sioux Falls Crash

Sioux Falls, South Dakota– Two people from Lester have died as a result of an accident in Sioux Falls on Friday, May 9, 2025.

The Sioux Falls Police Department reports that at about 6:20 p.m., a 35-year-old man from Harrisburg was driving a 2018 GMC pickup southbound on South Veterans Parkway (that’s Highway 11), at East 57th Street, about a mile north of Frankman Motor. They tell us that 77-year-old Charles Metzger of Lester was northbound on Veterans Parkway in a 2015 Ford.

We are told that Metzger made a left turn onto 57th Street in front of the oncoming pickup, and the vehicles collided.

A passenger in the Metzger vehicle, 78-year-old Linda Metzger of Lester, died on the scene. Charles Metzger was transported to a hospital, where he later died as well.

An ambulance took the pickup driver, who was the only person in the pickup, to a local hospital. His injuries were termed “serious.”

The crash and its causes remain under investigation.
