Alton, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Authorities have released the identity of the person who died in a residential fire earlier this month in Alton.
According to the Orange City Police Department, emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, February 5th, to a structure fire in Alton. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters located a female victim in a basement room of the home. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officials have identified the victim as Jennifer Milne Spradling, age 67, of Alton.
Firefighters from Alton Fire & EMS and the Orange City Fire Department responded to the scene along with the Orange City Police Department.
The fire remains under investigation by the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Orange City Police Department. Authorities say no additional information is being released at this time.
Emergency responders had remained on scene following the fire to assist with the investigation and ensure the area was safe.
