Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon firefighters were sent to a Northwest Iowa Community College residence hall on Thursday night.
Fire Chief Brad Hindt says firefighters were called a few minutes before 11:00 p.m. to Sioux Hall. He says when they got there, they found smoke in the hallway and in the laundry area. Firefighters deduced that the smoke was coming from a burned belt on a washing machine in the laundry area.
No injuries were reported, and Hindt says damage was limited to the washing machine.
He tells us that after they ventilated the area, they were back on the way to the fire station after about half an hour.
