Weather Service: Best Guess — We Might Have A Snowstorm Thanksgiving Week

Northwest Iowa — Social media has been abuzz about the weather next week. One of the models that keeps getting referenced is one that shows a big snowstorm on Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day.

We wanted a professional opinion on what is expected, so we talked to Matthew Dux, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Sioux Falls office.

He tells us what to expect in the days leading up to Thanksgiving next Thursday, November 27th.

We asked him how that can be — that the models are so wildly different from each other.

He says using the models does have its advantages too.

Unfortunately, there’s even more uncertainty going into Black Friday and next weekend for shoppers and travelers.

Weather and emergency management officials urge you this time of year to not only keep an eye on the weather if you’re going to be travelling, but also to keep a winter survival kit in your car.
