West Sioux Superintendent Talks About Renovation Projects

Hawarden, Iowa — Renovation work continues in the West Sioux Community School District.

On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, West Sioux Community School District voters approved a one-question bond referendum in the amount of $15.5 million for facility and learning environment improvements.

We had a chance to hear from Superintendent Steve Grond (who is also the Superintendent at the Boyden-Hull Community School District), and he tells us how the school’s administration feels about the situation.

At the Ireton Elementary, the project involves a new classroom wing, the removal of an existing classroom wing, and the full renovation of the existing gymnasium, new windows and doors, and many other improvements. At Hawarden, the project includes two new classrooms, storage space, and the removal of two portable classrooms outside of the building. Other items include, but are not limited to, lighting improvements, HVAC and electrical work, new windows, and much more.
