Larchwood, Iowa — A Worthington (MN) man has been arrested on a felony fraud charge after a July incident at Grand Falls Casino near Larchwood.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, 55-year-old Aet Amphai of Worthington is accused of trying to cash in a voucher that didn’t belong to him. He was arrested on a warrant on Wednesday.
In his statement, the DCI agent says that on July 17th, Amphai took a TITO voucher from a victim’s slot machine and proceeded to cash out the voucher at a Kiosk before leaving the casino. The cash value voucher was between $1500 and $10,000. TITO stands for “Ticket-in, Ticket-out.” TITO vouchers are used in modern casinos instead of coins.
Amphai was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.
He faces a preliminary hearing on Friday, September 12th.
At last report, Amphai remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $5000 bond.
