UPDATE: Aletha Oldenkamp

Aletha Oldenkamp, age 98, of Sheldon passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon with Pastor John Swoyer officiating.

Burial will be the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation with family present will be from 11:30AM until service time on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon.

Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Aletha Oldenkamp the daughter of Andrew and Sarah (Brink) Boone was born April 13, 1924 in Sheldon, Iowa. Aletha grew-up on a farm south of Sheldon where she received her education in a country school. On February 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Alvin Oldenkamp on a farm south of Sheldon. After their marriage the couple farmed south of Sheldon until 1963, they then moved to a farm south of Boyden, Iowa and in 1969 they moved to a farm southwest of Sheldon. In 1981, they moved into Sheldon. Alvin preceded her in death on July 24, 1996. Aletha remained in their home until moving to the Christian Retirement Home. Aletha passed away on December 19, 2022 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa reaching the age of 98 years, 8 months and 6 days.

Aletha was a life-long member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. She enjoyed cooking, baking, camping and fishing.

She is survived by her 4 sons and their wives, Daryl (Judy) Oldenkamp of Hilliard, Florida; Dean (Cindy) Oldenkamp and Doug (Vicki) Oldenkamp both of Sheldon, Iowa; Dale (Carla) Oldenkamp of Austin, Texas; all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; 2 brothers, Edward A. (Esther) and Alexander “Sandy” (Florence) Boone and 3 sisters, Tillie Boone; June (Harold) VanBeek and Leona (William “Bill”) Moret.
