Eleanor L, Schnurr, 93 of Hospers, IA passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, IA.
Funeral Service will be Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, IA with Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr celebrating, and Bishop R. Walker Nickless, Rev. Thomas Schultes, Rev. Brian Hughes and Rev. Terry Roder concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Hospers, IA.
Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.

Eleanor was born Feb. 2, 1920, at rural Hospers, IA the daughter of Felix & Johanna (Block) Jungers. She was raised and educated in the Hospers area. She attended St. Anthony Grade School in Hospers. Upon completion of the 8th grade she left school to help on the family farm.
She married Edward Schnurr on Nov. 18, 1942. The couple lived near Hospers where they farmed until 1945. They then moved into Hospers where she resided until she moved with her daughter in Hastings, NE. In June of 2012 she moved into the Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon in Nov. of 2013. Ed passed away Jan. 15, 1998.
Eleanor was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and church guild.
Survivors include; her six children, Delores (Marvin) Schultes of Hastings, NE, Carolyn (Larry) Arens of Remsen, IA, Rich (Judy) Schnurr of Hospers, Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr of Cincinnati, OH, Mike Schnurr, Irene (Scott) Foreman both of Alton, IA; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Blanche Eich of Sheldon, IA, Mildred Thom, Irene (Jerrry) Martins both of Phoenix, AZ, Mary (Jim) Ahlers of Fulda, MN, Bertill Nepper of Le Seur, MN; three brothers-in-law, Bernard Schnurr of Excelsior, MN, Donald Schnurr, Jerrry (Nancy) Schnurr both of Des Moines, IA; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded by: her parents, brother, Jerome (Margaret) Jungers.
Casket Bearers will be grandsons, Bryan and Ken Arens, Dan and Kevin Barnes, Keith Schnurr and Michael Schultes.
Honorary Bearers will be granddaughters, Khristy Trejo, Beth Peters, Kelly Galles, Ann Heckman, Michelle Matuska, Tricia VanDenTop, Jennifer Schipper and Sarah Barnes.
