Herbert F. Schroeder, age 99, of Storm Lake and formerly of Paullina passed away on Monday June 9, 2014 at the North Lake Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday June 12, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers, with Rev. Brian Janssen officiating. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 A.M. Thursday at the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation, with family present, will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

Herbert Frederick Schroeder, the son of Louie and Sophie (Groman) Schroeder was born April 29, 1915 in Bloomfield, Nebraska. He attended rural schools and graduated from Bloomfield High School. He furthered his education at Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska. On June 15, 1940, he was united in marriage to Irma McDonald in Fort Dodge, Iowa. After their marriage the couple settled in Nebraska until 1948 when they moved to Paullina. He assumed the John Deere Implement business in Paullina which he operated until his retirement. His retirement years were spent in Paullina until February of 1999, when the couple moved to the Landsmeer Ridge in Orange City to make their home. Irma preceded him in death on October 5, 1999 in Orange City. Herb remained in Orange City until entering the North Lake Manor in Storm Lake on July 13, 2007. He passed away at North Lake on Monday, June 9, 2014 reaching the age of 99 years, 1 month and 10 days.
He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina and later the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers, Iowa.
Herb will be fondly remembered by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma; his parents and two sisters, Hilda and Edna.
