Mrs. Margaret Meendering, age 94, of Hull, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, April 1, at 11:00 AM, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Carl Klompien will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a family prayer service on Tuesday, at 10:00 AM, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Visitation will be after 4:00 PM on Monday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Margaret was born on February 3, 1920, at Rock Valley, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Snieder) De Wit. She was raised on a farm, helping her father in the fields and attending country schools. After graduating from the Western Christian High School in Hull, she attended one semester at the Western Union College in Le Mars. She then taught many grades in country schools, where it was her responsibility to operate the wood burner stove. She especially liked teaching penmanship and math, and she kept many diaries and journals over the years. Later she was a monitor at Western Academy (Western Christian High School).
On December 29, 1943, she married John Meendering at Hull. They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. She sewed many clothes, quilts, and curtains and enjoyed working outside, giving away much garden produce. After John’s retirement, they traveled to the many states where their children resided. She loved helping with newborn grandchildren and enjoyed their visits later in life. John passed away on February 7, 2014, in Sioux Center. Margaret then became a resident of Crown Pointe in Sioux Center.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she led the Calvinette (Gem) program, taught Sunday school classes, belonged to the Ladies Aide and the Christian School Circle, and decorated the church bulletin board. She had a heart for giving and kept in touch with many missionaries. Keeping the Sabbath day holy was important to her.
She will be missed by seven children, Albert Meendering, and his wife, Trudy, of Kansas City, Missouri; Alice Parker, of Rapid City, South Dakota; Phyllis, and her husband, Doyle Van Sant, of Phoenix, Arizona; Donna, and her husband, Bob Bonestroo, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Marvin Meendering, and his wife, Kim, of Sioux Center; Daryl Meendering, and his wife, Paula, of Hull; and Nora, and her husband, Jerry Vanden Bos, of Rapid City; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Stephena Vander Werff and Betty Vander Griend; two brothers-in-law, Ed Dokter and George Meendering; and two sisters-in-law, Tress De Wit and Catherine De Wit.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant children, Harold and Marilyn Meendering; two daughters-in-law, Rachel and Laurel Meendering; two brothers, John Elmer and S. Harold De Wit; and a sister, Adrianna Dokter.
