Mildred Cora Gorzeman, the daughter of Charles Lee and Mary (Miller) Clary was born on June 26, 1919 in rural Rock Valley, Iowa.  She was baptized, confirmed, and later served as a Sunday school teacher at Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Center, Iowa.  Mildred grew up on the family farm, the oldest of five children; she helped raise her siblings and worked as a caregiver for many neighborhood families. She was a graduate of the Garfield Township School.  On August 5, 1950 she was united in marriage to John L. Gorzeman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  After their marriage the couple lived in Hull, Iowa and later moved onto an acreage in Hull where they operated a dairy of Guernsey cows.  John preceded Mildred in death in July of 1982.  Mildred remained on the acreage until moving to Sheldon in 1998.  Mildred often volunteered at the Village Treasure Chest in Sheldon, and over the span of 32 years developed many meaningful and lasting friendships.  She moved to Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon in September of 2013 where she passed away on April 10, 2014 reaching the age of 94 years, 9 months and 14 days.

She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, contributing to a spirited church community in Hull until moving to Sheldon, where she became a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church there and active member of the Birthday Club.  Mildred maintained an active family and social life, enjoying cooking, baking, playing cards, gardening, traveling, crocheting, and sewing. She also especially enjoyed her grandchildren; Mildred took pride in traveling to and attending their many events throughout her life. Her active love and steadfast support of family kept her young beyond her years, and became the center of her vibrant family life.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and spouses, Mary Beth and Will Ament of Waukon, Iowa and Janna Lynn and Tom Whorley of Sheldon, Iowa; two grandchildren, LT(USN) J Paul Whorley and Paige Elizabeth Whorley both of San Diego, California; brother, Kenneth Clary of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Clary of Hudson, South Dakota and Marcea Clary of Sloan, Iowa; dear niece, Linda Meadows of Sioux City, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; two brothers, Earl and Lyle Clary and sister, Doris Juelfs.
