Patricia A. Tausz, age 75, formerly of Rock Rapids, passed away on Monday, July 21st, at Lakeside Village in Panora, IA.
Visitation will be Monday, August 11th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the family present, at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 12th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids, with Father Sunny Dominic as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.
The Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Patty was born on July 8, 1950, in Rapid City, SD, the daughter of John and Dorothy Davies. She graduated from Rapid City High School in May of 1968, and then attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD, graduating in May of 1972, with a BS degree in Business Administration and minor in Math.
Patty married Terry Tausz on August 10, 1974, in Rapid City. Two daughters were born into marriage, Shawn and Michele.
Patty worked in various places after college graduation. She worked at the United National Bank Corporate Office in Sioux Falls from July 1974 to August 1976, and also held a part-time position with Lewis Drugs in the evenings. After moving to Titonka, IA, in Aug. of 1976, she worked at The Winnebago Industries Business Office in Forest City from August 1976 till June 1977. She then worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Titonka Care Center in Titonka from June 1977, until July of 1979. After re-locating to Rock Rapids in August of 1979, Patty worked at United Federal Savings & Loan in Rock Rapids from October 1980, till June 1982. In June of ’82, she went to work for Health Services of Lyon County in Rock Rapids and retired from that position in December of 2009. In retirement, she also worked some as a part-time, kitchen helper at Central Lyon School.
Patty enjoyed doing volunteer work in the community (especially with the Hospice program). She was part of a Rock Rapids volunteer group that worked mostly at wedding receptions, usually at the Rock Rapids Community Building. As a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, she had various volunteer activities, and also did some volunteering at Central Lyon School and at Lyon Manor. Many of these continued even after her retirement.
Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she loved making bars and cookies (especially pumpkin bars and chocolate chip, M&M cookies) during the Holidays and for family get-togethers. Traveling to different destinations was also a favorite of hers. She always put her family and friends first.
Survivors include her husband, Terry, and daughters Shawn Tausz Meyers (Ryan) and Michele Recker (Ryan). Grandchildren — Claire, Faith, Gracie, Hope, and Isaac. Her sisters — Jeanette Rail (Joe), Joanne Panka (Greg) and Susan Lloyed Davies. Brothers-in-law – Jim Tausz (Judy) and Tom Tausz.
