Ray David Rolston was born March 13th 1948 in Sheldon, Iowa, to Megrum and Margaret Rolston. He graduated from Sheldon High School in 1966. He entered the US Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged in 1969 and continued in the reserves through 1973. He then continued his education at Northwest Iowa Vocational School in refrigeration. Ray also farmed with his parents on the family farm Northwest of Sheldon for many years.
Ray found joy and solitude in the great outdoors. He had a love for hunting and fishing and a warm summer cruise on his motorcycle.
In his younger years, friends can attest to fun times and questionable antics at the local gravel pit, Peter’s Park and the Sheldon loop, etc. He enjoyed and practiced TaeKwonDo with friends, achieving his black belt, and never ceasing to give up his lightening quick reflexes until the very end.
Ray wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own way. He passed away peacefully in his home on April 3rd, 2021.
Left to cherish Ray’s memory are his daughter, Sheena and her family, Tyler Treharne, Ella Rose (6) and Cassius Ray (3) and his sister, Janice Fritts; and other friends and relatives.
