Raymond F. Youngers passed away on March 31, 2015, at the age of 89, with Elvira, his loving wife of 67 years at his side in Surprise, Arizona.
Arrangements are being made for a memorial service at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon at the end of April.
Visitation will be after 4:00 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa. A Christian Wake Service will be at 7:00 pm and Knights of Columbus Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Fr. Allan Reicks officiating, with burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick’s Grade School or Village Northwest Unlimited, in Sheldon.

Ray was born on July 29, 1925 on his family farm in O’Brien County, Iowa, where he grew up. After marrying Elvira Portz on January 27, 1948, they raised six children on the same farm where he was born. They later moved to Sheldon where he owned and operated a successful real estate and insurance business and loved to help anyone he could with computers. He was mayor of Sheldon for several years and enjoyed handing out orange golf balls to anyone who would take them. After retiring, when he moved to Sun City West, he relished playing Santa and handing out his Santa cards. Ray is survived by his wife, Elvira; and six children and their spouses: Mike Youngers and his wife Lisa, Topeka, KS; Dave Youngers and his wife Ellen, Oronoco, MN; Susan Draftz and her husband Tim, Atchison, KS; Janet Andringa and her husband Greg, Sheldon, IA; Kevin Youngers and his wife Debbie, Greeley, CO; Loren Youngers and his wife Dixie, Kansas City, MO; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Streff; and two sisters-in-law, Marge Youngers and Peggy Youngers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Susanna Youngers, and five brothers, Howard, Robert, Alfred, Marion, and Peter.
