Sandra Johnson age 71 of Sheldon, died on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon.
Visitation will be Thursday morning, July 27th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, both at Faith Community Church in Sheldon, with Rev. Kevin Gingerich officiating.
A private family committal will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA.

In lieu of flowers, Sandy has requested donations be given to her 3 grandchildren, Christian & Kamryn Walters and Amber Johnson to assist with furthering their education.

Born on September 29th, 1951 in Sibley, IA, Sandy was the cherished daughter of Elmer and Gertie (Kruger) Christians, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Graig; her daughter Tracy (Dan) Walters of Bakersfield CA; daughter Tonya Johnson of Sioux Center, IA; three grandchildren Christian Walters, Kamryn Walters, Amber Johnson. Sandy’s memory will also be treasured by her brother Larry (Karen) Christians; step-sister Donna (Ron) Van Iperen; sister-in-law Lois Christians; brother-in-law Jeff (Ellen) Johnson; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Sandy was raised in George, IA from 1951 to 1978. She attended country school as a young girl and then George Community School, Graduating in May of 1969. She continued her education and graduated from Northwest Community College in 1970. Sandy then became employed by the USDA Rural Development in October of 1970 in Sibley, Iowa.
On August 21st 1971, she was united in marriage to Graig Allen Johnson in Little Rock, Iowa. Sandy moved to Storm Lake, Iowa in 1978 with her husband, Graig and daughter, Tracy. A home was established and after many years of praying for another child, Sandy and Graig were blessed with their second daughter, Tonya.
She continued her work with the USDA Rural Development and retired after 34 years of dedicated service. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa in 2019 to be closer to family and were members of Faith Community Church of Sheldon.
Sandy had a strong work ethic and found solace in being a part of many organizations. She was a member and president of BPW (Business and Professional Women); involved with S.C.O.R.E, Housing Authority, Gingerbread House, and the Alta, Iowa Speedway. Sandy ran for the Board of County Supervisors of Buena Vista County and the City Council of Sheldon, Iowa. She had a passion for the county and state Republican Party Associations. She loved anything to do with the American Flag, USA, and Bald Eagles. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to craft shows, planning family events, and gardening. Sandy loved her family, especially her grandchildren with all her heart.
The family has found comfort knowing Sandy has been reunited with her parents and her brothers Don and Roger Christians.
