Troy D. Seivert

Troy Dominic Seivert, age 52, of Sheldon, passed away on Thursday, March 13th, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 17th at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, with Fr. Siby Punnoose officiating.

Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation with the family present will be on Sunday, March 16th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon and a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Troy Dominic Seivert the son of Dean and Lynn (Bonestroo) Seivert was born March 24, 1972, in Sheldon. He grew up in Sheldon where he attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and then graduated from Sheldon High School in 1990. He was proud to be a lifelong Orab. On September 25, 1993, Troy married his high school sweetheart, Dawn Kamphoff.  

After high school, he worked various jobs including Village Northwest Unlimited, Diamond Vogel, and in 2009 started his position as an Operations Manager at Auto Refinished Solutions. He also enjoyed bartending on Wednesday nights at Langer’s Bar & Grill. Troy passed away on Thursday March 13, 2025, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, reaching the age of 52 years, 11 months, and 17 days. 

Troy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and of the Sheldon Knights of Columbus #1564. He was a member and previous board member of the Sheldon Golf & Country Club, and a member of the Sheldon Eagles Club. He was also a retired member of Sheldon EMA (20 years). 

Troy was a diehard Minnesota Vikings & Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved going to Northwestern Red Raiders football games and tailgating. Troy loved spending time with his family, especially on trips to Jamaica and Mexico. He loved grilling and trying new recipes and was famous for his deviled eggs and gizzards, which were always requested at gatherings. He loved golfing and always looked forward to the 8” cup tournament that he started with his dad. Troy enjoyed yardwork (even if he couldn’t get grass to grow in the front yard). For many years he also enjoyed his hobby as a DJ for TD Tunes.  

Troy was his children’s #1 fan. He lived for his family, his faith, and his friends and he will be forever missed.  

Troy leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 31 years, Dawn; their children, Dominic Seivert (fiancé, Erin and her 3 children, Kellen, Evie, and Brea) of Sheldon, IA and Sierra Seivert (grand-kitties Archie and Ollie) of Sioux Falls, SD; Lola, his beloved puppy girl; his mother, Lynn Seivert of Sheldon, IA; his in-laws Jolene (Gordon) Cramer of Sheldon, IA; and many aunts, uncles, brother & sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and close friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Seivert; his sister, Shelly Palmer; and his father-in-law, Denny Kamphoff.
