Miss Wendy Dykstra, age 36, of Maurice, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday, February 8, at 2:00 pm, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Donald De Kok will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice. Visitation will be after 5:00 pm on Friday, with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, which is in charge of the arrangements for 36-year old Wendy Dykstra of Maurice.
Wendy Kay was born on February 12, 1977, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Phil and Kathy (Hubers) Dykstra. She was raised near Maurice and attended the River Valley School in Rock Valley until the age of 18. She then became a resident of Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon. She was blessed to live at VNU where she was loved and cared for wonderfully.
Although unable to speak or walk, Wendy communicated with others through her infectious smile and sparkling eyes. She touched the lives of many people throughout her life, including her twelve nephews and nieces.
Survivors include her parents, Phil and Kathy Dykstra, of Maurice; four siblings, Vicki, and her husband, Justin Schrock, and their children, A.J., Caleb, Emilee, Miya, Kira, and Naomi, of Orange City; Loren Dykstra, and his wife, Melissa, and their children, Rebecca, Julia, Logan, and Collin, of Maurice; Dave Dykstra, and his wife, Amanda, and their children, Kaylee and Levi, of Maurice; and Katie, and her husband, Sean Schuller, of Orange City; and two grandmothers, Rose Dykstra and Margaret “Mike” Hubers, both of Orange City.
She was welcomed to heaven by her grandfathers, Lawrence Dykstra and Henry J. Hubers.
Memorials will be directed to Village Northwest.
