Sioux City, Iowa – A Dordt University Defender and a Northwestern College Red Raider have been named as Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Players-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC Tuesday, October 7th.
Karinna Tel of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Tel, a senior from Puyallup, Washington, scored three goals in the first 12 minutes of the Defenders 7-0 win against Waldorf. This was her third hat-trick of the season and 11th of her career.
She also assisted on the Defenders fifth goal against the Warriors and then added an assist in Dordt’s winning goal against College of Saint Mary on Saturday. On the Week she collected eight total points.
Drew Darnold of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Darnold, a sophomore from Papillion, Nebraska, netted his first career hat trick and dished out an assist in Northwestern’s 5-1 win over Mount Marty on Saturday.
His three goals came in the first 22 minutes of the game, completing his second multi-goal performance in three games.
