Sioux City, Iowa – A Dordt Unviersity Defender and a Northwestern College Red Raider have been named as Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Basketball Players-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC Tuesday, February 3rd.
Macy Sievers of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women’s basketball offensive player-of-the-week. Sievers, a junior from Storm Lake, averaged a double-double in a pair of wins while converting 50 percent of her three-point attempts.
In a win over Northwestern, she had 24 points while going a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. Against Mount Marty she dished out 13 assists. On the week Sievers averaged 19.5 points, 10 assists and six rebounds per game.
Jalen Langsy of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball offensive player-of-the-week. Langsy, a sophomore from Shakopee, Minnesota, had a career night in Northwestern’s 105-86 win over Dordt, making a program-record 12 threes and scoring 48 points.
On the week, Langsy averaged 32.5 points on 59 percent shooting from the field and 60 percent from the 3-point line. He is currently leading the NAIA in points per game (28.2) and is fifth in the country in 3-point percentage at 51.2 percent.
