The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its 2024-25 indoor track and field awards on Tuesday afternoon March 25 and Ashland University’s women’s program picked up two special honors.
For a second consecutive season Sheldon native and now Eagle head coach A.G. Kruger is the conference’s women’s indoor Coach of the Year, and for the first time, sophomore Molly Winner is the circuit’s women’s indoor field Athlete of the Year.
Kruger a former three time Summer Olympian led the Ashland University women to a second consecutive Great Midwest indoor team championship. The Ohio school scored 191.5 points, outpacing second-place Findlay by 56 points.
Winner was the conference champion in both the women’s weight throw and shot put, had the top women’s weight throw mark in NCAA Division II during the regular season at 20.36 meters (66-feet-9¾), and was a two-time NCAA Division II indoor All-American earlier this month – second place in the weight throw, and sixth in the shot put.
