A Red Raider and a Dordt Defender earn GPAC Soccer Player-of-the-Week honors

Sioux City, Iowa – A Northwestern College Red Raider and a Dordt University Defender were named Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Players-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC Tuesday, September 30th.

Drew Darnold of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Darnold, a sophomore from Papillion, Nebraska, scored three goals on the week, netting one in a 3-0 win over Waldorf and two in Northwestern’s 4-1 win over Jamestown.

Lydia Zylstra of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Zylstra, a senior from Pella, Iowa, made 11 saves in the Defenders 0-0 draw against Dakota Wesleyan. This was her third match of the season with double-digit saves.

Zylstra followed with a 6-0 shutout win against Mount Marty, a team that was unbeaten in GPAC play going into the match. Zylstra made four saves in the win over the Lancers.
