Northwest Iowa — Weather got in the way of girls state golf qualifying Tuesday. The entire class 3A qualifier at at the Pocahontas Golf Club was postponed. MOC Floyd Valley will be competing as a team. Area individuals include Rachel Abele of Sheldon, Alex Mankle of Okoboji and MOC Floyd Valley team mates Kira Jasper and Lauren Webber.
In Class 1A they were able to play 9 holes at the Newell Municipal Golf Course. They’ll play the final 9 holes Wednesday beginning at 11:00am. Central Lyon and Akron Westfield advanced out of the first round and are in the hunt. Individual qualifiers included Kassie Peters of George Little Rock and Central Lyon team mates Hannah Sieperda and Sydney Peterson.
In Class 2A play was decided at Deer Run in Hinton. West Monona posted the low team score at 375 with Unity Christian at 379. Both will move on to State as a team.
Individual qualifiers for the Girls State Golf Meet from the area include Chanda Zommermaand of Unity at 84 and team mate Alyssa Fedders at 91.
