BHRV Shuts Down Unity Christian

Orange City, Iowa — The Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Nighthawks turned 4 turnovers into points en route to a 56-0 shutout over Unity Christian in Orange City Friday night.

The Nighthawks scored on their first 6 possessions of the first half. Landyn Van Kekerix opened the scoring with a 65 yard gallop. The Nighthawks then capitalized on a short field after a botched punt snap, and Cade Fisher punched it in from two yards out. After a Vance Katzfey interception, the Nighthawks scored from 3 yards out when Van Kekerix ran it in from 3 yards out. Van Kekerix found the endzone again in the first quarter with a 15 yard touchdown reception from Tanner Te Slaa.

Caleb Kats continued the scoring in the 2nd with a 17 yard touchdown reception from Te Slaa and Cade Fisher found the endzone again with a 5 yard plunge. Heading into halftime it was 41-0.

After Unity Christian fumbled on their first drive of the 2nd half at their own ten, BHRV capitalized with the short field when Zach Strubbe found Blake Bomgaars for the 9 yard touchdown pass, and Lane Schmidt found the endzone on a 34 yard fumble return. BHRV got the win 56-0.

With the win, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley improves to 3-0 on the year and will face Algona in non-district play next week at home. Unity falls to 2-1 on the year and visits Cherokee to open district play.
