Vermillion, South Dakota — Mary Margaret Borer (former Sheldon Orab) hit a half court shot at halftime of the USD/SDSU game on Saturday and won $10,000.
We had a chance to talk with Mary Margaret on Monday and despite the smooth shooting motion the highly decorated Orab volleyball player never played basketball even in grade school. Only students who didn’t play varsity basketball were eligible.
Boer took us through the contest selection process.
So what was the thought process then ?
We asked if there was much time just shooting baskets growing up.
As far as practicing any half court shots that was all in the moment.
And the thought process when the shot went in.
As for any plans for her winnings Mary Margaret has a few ideas.
This past Saturday will be remembered as a day the universe decided to smile on a Sheldon Orab alum.
