Iowa City, Iowa — Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley standout Nate Brenneman has announced his commitment to the University of Iowa Hawkeyes football team.
The 6-foot-6, 255-pound junior had offers from several other programs but chose to remain in the state and join the Hawkeyes in their 2027 recruiting class.
“First of all, I want to give thanks to God and blessing me with this opportunity. Thanks to my family, friends and coaches for helping me throughout this process. Thank you to the Iowa staff in believing in me. With that being said, I have decided to commit to the University of Iowa. You will get my best.”
Brenneman is the latest Iowa high school product to stay home, joining a group of in-state recruits that includes fellow 2027 commit Jaxx Dejean of OABCIG. The Hawkeyes have emphasized keeping top local talent in the program, and Brenneman’s decision adds to that momentum.
Brenneman played on both sides of the ball for the Nighthawks during his junior season. While he was on the offensive line this past season, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley had 1,256 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground along with 1,332 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air. Defensively, Brenneman had 30.5 tackles, 14 of them for loss, as well as five sacks.
His combination of size and athleticism, including a reported 505-pound squat and 4.85-second 40-yard dash, has drawn attention from many college programs. Along with Iowa, Brenneman also holds offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan State, Maryland, Duke, Boston College, North Dakota State, and Florida Atlantic.
