Boys Golf Sectional Results from Friday

golf picFriday marked the first round of tournament play for boy’s golf in Iowa. The Sheldon Orab boys saw their season come to a close at Sioux Center.

 

 

 

Class 2A at Sioux Center
Host team Sioux Center and Estherville-Lincoln Central were the top two finishers in a Class 2A sectional at The Ridge Golf Club. Sioux Center shot 325 and Estherville-Lincoln Central 334, advancing to a district at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Okoboji on Friday.

Braden Den Boer of Sioux Center shot 4-over-par 75 to claim medalist honors and Jack Brashear of Estherville-Lincoln Central was runner-up with a 78. Brock De Boer of Sioux Center (38-41—79) and Luke Jackson of Emmetsburg (38-41—79) are the other individual district qualifiers.Western Christian was third in the team standings with 337, followed by Sheldon (338), Sibley-Ocheyedan (346), Emmetsburg (350), Okoboji (357) and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (364).

 

Class 2A at Orange City
In another sectional involving area golfers, Unity Christian, OA-BCIG and West Lyon earned Class 2A district boy’s golf berths by claiming the top three spots in a sectional at Landsmeer Friday.
Host team Unity totaled 335; OA-BCIG shot a team 341 with West Lyon at 346. West Lyon produced the top two individual finishers in Jaden Snyder and Dylan Whalen who both shot 81’s. Mason Pitts of Cherokee also carded 81.The other individual district qualifiers were Ryan Fedders and Jaren Brue of West Lyon, Brandon Schwade of OA-BCIG, Austin Reitz and Jeremiah McCarthy all at 83.

Golfers from the Unity sectional will take part in the district meet at Emerald Hills in Okoboji on Friday.

 

Class 1A
Class 1A area golfers got together for the sectional hosted by Boyden Hull. Boyden-Hull, Akron-Westfield and Central Lyon took the top three team spots at Rolling Hills Country Club Friday. Along with the qualifying individuals are headed to the district meet at Spencer Thursday.

Earning individual district berths were medalist Kyle Baartman of Boyden-Hull at 81. Runner-up Marcus Rens and Davis Van Roekel both carded 83s along with Kevin Carlson of Akron-Westfield.
Host team Boyden-Hull totaled 335, Akron-Westfield was next at 354 with Central Lyon at 362.
Harris Lake Park (369), West Sioux (374), South O’Brien (377) and Trinity Christian (514) rounded out the team totals.

 

The Class 3A boys sectional originally set for Thursday the 14th was postponed until Monday and will be decided at the Spencer Golf and Country Club. Participating schools will include Algona, Denison-Schleswig, Humboldt, Le Mars, MOC-Floyd Valley, Spencer, Spirit Lake and Storm Lake.
