PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley hit a final layup at the buzzer to edge out UNI men’s basketball in the opening conference game of the season, 71-69.
UNI is now 2-4 overall and 0-1 MVC. Bradley improves to 3-5 / 1-0 MVC.
AJ Green opened with a three-pointer on the first possession, and UNI led for more than 10 minutes of the first half before Bradley tallied 13 unanswered points. The Braves ended the first half with their biggest lead at 39-28.
UNI was able to tie it up, 51-51. However, Bradley responded with back-to-back three-pointers that was enough to hold the lead until the final buzzer.
AJ Green led the Panthers in scoring with 30 points. Noah Carter scored a season-high 20 points.
The Panthers had a season-high of six steals with two coming from Nate Heise and Trae Berhow. Tywhon Pickford and Antwan Kimmons each chipped in one.
UNI was out-rebounded by Bradley, 38-29.
UNI will host Richmond for a Blackout Game back in the McLeod Center this weekend. Fans are encouraged to wear black to the game set for 1 p.m. Dec. 5.
