Ames, Iowa — Iowa State coach Matt Campbell says the next step may be the toughest.
Campbell has turned around a Cyclone program that went from 3-9 in 2016 to 9-3 this past season, including a Fiesta Bowl win. ISU is considered a contender for the College Football Playoff heading into this season.
The Cyclones are expected to open the season ranked in the top ten.
Campbell says it is about a team reaching full potential and lot living up to expectations.
Brock Purdy is getting ready for his fourth season as the starting quarterback and says it has been fun to see Iowa State get so much attention in the preseason.
Purdy says the Cyclones had high expectations heading into last season as well.
All Big-12 receiver Xavier Hutchinson led the Cyclones with 64 catches in 2020 and says he enjoys the expectations.
Hutchinson is not concerned about their ability to handle success.
Senior offensive lineman Sean Foster says they’re are not focused on preseason rankings.
Foster has seen the level of talent and confidence grow during his time in the program.
