Central Lyon Moves On To 2A Semis

Top seed Central Lyon moved on to the Thursday morning semifinal in Class 2A as they downed 8 seed Red Oak 68-34 with the fourth quarter featuring a running clock.

The Lions square off against #4 seed Pella Christian who downed #5 seed Roland Story in the other upper bracket quarterfinal 69-62. Thursday’s semi is set to tip off at 10:30 am.

The Lions opened with a 10-2 run to start the contest and never trailed. At the end of the first quarter it was 26-13. At the half the lead was 37-22. Central Lyon opened the second half on a 15-0 run to go up by 30 and cruised to the win with a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Mason Gerleman led the offense with 18 points. Zach Lutmer hit for 16 and Andrew Austin adding 13. A pair of big keys to the win were a 45-27 rebounding advantage and a 56.1 shooting percentage as a team. The Tigers were led by Max DeVries with 10 points followed by Ryan Johnson with 9.

Central Lyon will take a 23-2 record into the semis. Red Oak closes the season at 18-8.
