Central Lyon Opens Tournament Play Wednesday Morning

Des Moines, Iowa — Central Lyon drew the #3 seed in the Class 2A tournament and the wait will be over Wednesday morning when they take a 22-2 record into a lower bracket quarterfinal against #6 seed Cascade who enters the tournament at 20-4. Tip off is at 11:45.

The Lions have three players averaging double figures led by junior Addison Klosterbuer with 13.9 a game hitting 37.6 percent from behind the arc and 80.4 percent on free throws. Sophomore Desta Hoogendoorn averages 11.8 per game hitting 59.1 percent from the floor overall. Senior Regan Van Wyhe averages 11.8 per game hitting 51.3 percent from the floor.

Hoogendoorn leads the team in rebounds with 6.6 per game. Junior Afton Schlumbohm is the assists leader with 4.7 per game.

Cascade counters with two players averaging double figures. Senior Ally Hoffman hits for 13.4 per game and has a 71.1 percent free throw shooting percentage. Junior Alyssa Luc is averaging 11.4 per game while hitting 34.2 percent from behind the arc.

Hoffman is the rebounding leader with 9.1 per game and the assists leader at 3.8 per game.

Central Lyon has outscored opponents 64-41 per game while shooting a Class 2A best 34.1 percent as a team from behind the arc. The average score for the Cougars has been 51-30. Opening tip is set for 11:45 Wednesday morning.
