Sheldon Iowa — Three runs in the seventh inning put Cherokee up 6-5 and a Brennan Radke score in the bottom of the seventh sent the game into extra innings tied at 6-6. The 8th inning was scoreless but another Cherokee rally put 5 more runs on the board in the top of the 9th inning to put them in front 11-6. This time the Braves defense held and they left Sheldon with the extra inning win.

Cherokee score a pair in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead on a pair of rbi singles. Sheldon scored 3 in the home half of the inning to move in front 3-2. The highlight was a 2 run homer to left by Jason Barwick that scored Tyler Johnson who had reached on an error. Brennan Radke scored the first run of the game from third on an errant throw back to the pitcher.
Cherokee tied the score at 3-3 in the top of the third as Kade Jurgensen tucked a solo home run just inside the left field foul pole.
The Orabs regained the lead with a run in the 4th as Barwick came across on a wild pitch to go up 4-3. Sheldon added an insurance run in the fifth on a safety squeeze as Cody Vaselaar scored from third on a bunt up the first base line by Tyler Johnson. That pushed the lead to 5-3.
Cherokee answered with a three run 7th inning to go up 6-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Sheldon would send it into extra innings as Brennan Radke walked to start the inning. A pick off attempt moved him to third and he scored on an error on the throw to first on a strike three pass ball.
Kade Jurgensen got the win in relief with Kordell Kooiker taking the loss for the Orabs. With the win Cherokee is 2-15 on the year. Sheldon is 6-7. The Orabs return to action Wednesday night at home against Okoboji. Cherokee plays host to Estherville Lincoln Central.
