Comeback Falls Short For Remsen St. Mary’s

Des Moines, Iowa — The 6 seed Remsen St. Mary’s Hawks fell short to Grand View Christian Monday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Arena 54-49.

Grand View Christian went on an early 8-0 run to pull in front and took a 17-11 lead into the second quarter. The Hawks pulled to within 4 early in the second quarter, but Grand View went on a 13-0 run to take a 32-16 lead into the half. Grand View had a 19 point lead early in the 3rd quarter, but Remsen St. Mary’s slowly started to claw their way back. At the end of 3, Grand View’s lead was 38-27. Late in the fourth quarter, Remsen St. Mary’s pulled to within four points with 23 seconds left, but Grand View Christian was able to hit key free throws and come away with the 54-49.

The Hawks were led in scoring by Jaxon Bunkers and Austin Jensen with 12 points each. Grand View got a team high 20 points from Manny Hammonds.

Remsen St. Mary’s ends their season at 22-4. Grand View improves to 21-1.
