Comets Down Sioux Center to Move on to Substate

Sheldon Iowa — Boyden Hull downed Sioux Center 49-44 for the Class 2A District 1 title Tuesday night at the Sheldon High School Gym. With the win the Comets are on to Substate Saturday at Spirit Lake. They’ll meet Pocahontas Area who downed Forrest City 70-62 for the District 2 title.

Sioux Center led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter. Boyden Hull took a 29-25 lead into halftime and led at the rest of the breaks. The Comets were up 35-32 at the end of the third quarter and sealed the 49-44 win at the free throw line in the fourth quarter as they went 10-of-14 from the line.

Balanced scoring was the key for Boyden Hull as four players made their way into double figures. Andrew Frick and Carter Francis had 11 points each. Spencer Te Slaa and Keyton Moser added 10 points each. Sioux Center was led by Charlie Dykshorn with a game high 14. Wilson Harshbarger was next with 9 points.

With the win Boyden Hull improves to 21-2 on the season. Sioux Center ends the year at 15-7.
