Des Moines Iowa — Top seed Boyden Hull rolled to a 57-26 quarterfinal win over #8 seed Woodward Granger. With the win the Comets are on to the Class 2A semi finals on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Tip off is set for 6:30 with pregame at 6:15 on KIWA FM 105.3. The last of the 2A quarterfinals is set for Tuesday morning at 9:30. It will match #4 seed Camanche and #5 seed Monticello. The winner will draw Boyden Hull in the upper bracket semi.
The Comets were in control from start to finish as they led 18-7 at the end of the first quarter and pushed that to a 17 point advantage at halftime. By the end of three the lead was 45-20 with Boyden Hull winning 57-26. Keyton Moser was the games top scorer with 17 points including a trio of and-1 conversions. Andrew Frick hit for 11 with Tanner Te Slass adding 10 points.The Hawks were led by Nick Buch with an 8 point game.
Keys to the game for the Comets were a 36-16 advantage in points in the paint, a 17-0 edge in second chance points and 12-of-14 free throw shooting including three different players hitting both ends of the one and one for 8 points heading into halftime.
With the win the Comets are 22-3 on the year with a spot in the upper bracket semi awaiting them on Wednesday night. Woodward Granger ends the year at 22-3.
