Comets Take two From the Mustangs

George Iowa — Boyden Hull swept a road basketball double header from the Mustangs in George Thursday night. The girls final was 55-32 while the boys game went to the Comets 62-48.

In the girls game the Comets jumped out to a 15-2 first quarter lead and were up 25-11 at half time as they went on to their 10th win of the season.

Mallory Niles led all scorers with 20 points for Boyden Hull. Brooke Zylstra hit for 9 with Erika Pottebaum adding 8 points. The Mustangs were led by MacKensie Post with 9 points followed by Madisen Dreesen with 8.

Boyden Hull is 10-6 on the year and 10-4 in the conference while the Mustangs are 3-14 for the season and 2-12 in the Siouxland.

In the boys game the Comets took a 20-15 first quarter lead and were up 34-26 at halftime. At the end of three it was 49-33 with Boyden Hull going on to win 62-48 in a battle for first place in the conference.

Beau DeJongh had a game high 23 for the Comets. He was joined in double figures by Keyton Moser with 12 points and Spencer Te Slaa with 11. George Little Rock had two players in double figures getting 11 points each from Payton Mauldin and Matt Haken.

The Comets remian unbeaten on the year with a 15-0 record and 13-0 Siouxland mark. George Little Rock is 14-2 on the year and 11-2 in the conference with both losses to the Comets.

Both teams return to action Friday night. Boyden Hull is at West Lyon while the Mustangs travel to Sheldon.
