Concordia University totaled 96 points and is the preseason coaches’ selection to win the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball Championship. The Bulldogs garnered six first place votes as the top selection. The other four first place votes went to Doane University who was just one point back in second place with 95 points.
Morningside was tabbed to finish third with 80 points while Mount Mary was picked fourth with 73. The Jimmies from Jamestown round out the top five with 66 points.
In 2023, Doane was the regular season champion in the GPAC with a league mark of 23-5, while the Bulldogs were runner up at 21-7. The Tigers also won the tournament title with a 1-0 win over Concordia.
The GPAC Postseason Tournament will feature two four-team tournaments (Seeds 1,4,5,8 and Seeds 2,3,6,7) (double elimination) on May 2-4 at the sites of the top two seeds. Then the two tournament winners will play on Tuesday, May 7, in the GPAC Championship (one nine inning game) at the highest remaining seed.
Points were awarded on a 10-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.
