Rock Rapids,Iowa — Longtime assistant and Central Lyon George Little Rock football alum Curtis Eben will be the new head football coach at Central Lyon/George-Little Rock. He was officially named at Thursday night’s school board meeting.
Along with his new duties as Head Football Coach the 35 year old Eben will remain as the Lions Head Wrestling Coach. He has been Head Wrestling Coach since 2005. Eben was a Lions player from 1996 to 2000. His collegiate career took him to the University of Sioux Falls. He has been an assistant in the Lions program for the past twelve years and the defensive coordinator for the past eight.
Coach Eben takes over for Toby Lorenzen who earlier this month said that he was stepping down from the position. Lorenzen compiled a 163-66 record over 22 years as the Lions head coach. He led the team to 10 district championships, 16 playoff appearances, five championship games, winning the 2006 Class 2A state title. He coached 24 first-team all-state players.
In his final season Lorenzen guided the Lions to a 7-3 record and a playoff appearance.
