Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt Defender men’s basketball team was playing from behind most of the game and lost a GPAC Quarterfinal round contest at home against the Jamestown Jimmies on Wednesday night in Sioux Center. The Jimmies had a 10 point lead at halftime and controlled the second half for am 83-59 final.
Dordt had an early lead at 8-5 after a Luke Rankin basket but the visitors scored the next 11 points and led 16-8 with 14:15 left in the half. Dordt narrowed the lead to 18-16 on a Bryce Coppock basket but Jamestown responded with an 8-1 run and maintained mostly a double-digit lead into the 39-29 halftime difference.
Dordt trimmed the lead to 42-37 but got no closer as Jamestown led by at least ten points over the final 14:09 before winning 83-59.
Dordt was limited to 21-57 shooting and 4-18 three-point success for 37 and 22 percent respectively.
Jamestown was 35-66 from the field and 11-21 from the arc and had a 38-30 rebounding edge.
Bryce Coppock scored 17 points to lead Dordt and Jackson Louscher had nine points.
Jacob Vis had six points and nine rebounds with two assists and Cade Bleeker and Luke Rankin each had eight points.
Jamestown was led by Cole Woodford with 20 points and Will Cordes had 16.
Dordt is now 20-10 while Jamestown is 23-8.
Jamestown will host Dakota Wesleyan in the GPAC semifinals while Dordt awaits a potential at-large berth to the 64-team NAIA National Championship field which will be announced on Thursday, March 3.
