Defender Volleyball Hosts Midland Saturday

Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt will host Midland in the regular season home finale on Saturday, October 30. The junior varsity contest is at 3:30 and the varsity will get underway at 5:00.

Midland is 21-4 this season and 10-4 in league play and saw a four match winning streak stopped on October 23 at Jamestown. The Warriors other losses in league play are to Hastings, the College of Saint Mary and Doane.

Dordt is 16-7 this season and 8-6 in the conference and has won three matches in a row and four of the last five. Two of Dordt’s last three wins have come in five sets.

Dordt averages 12.55 kills per set with a .201 team kill efficiency while holding a season edge of 121-91 in ace serves and a 2.31-1.70 blocks per set average. Teams get 12.26 kills per set against Dordt and the Defenders limit foes to a .167 kill efficiency.

Corrina Timmermans leads the team with a 3.57 kills average and she also has a team high 33 ace serves and gets to 2.3 digs per set. Jessi Franken and Alli Timmermans get 2.6 and 2.49 kills each and Grace Langemeier has lifted her average to 1.6 and Danielle Vande Voort is at 1.33. Megan Raszler’s assists per set average is 6.51 and she has 19 service aces. Campbell Marshall’s average is 4.42 as Dordt employs mostly a two-setter offense. Erica Bousema is good for 5.62 digs per set and Mia Gamet has a 2.44 average with 21 service aces while Bousema has 18.

Dordt will travel to face briar Cliff on Tuesday night, November 2 to conclude the regular season. Midland concludes the season on November 2 at home against Doane.
