Defenders & Raiders Lead GPAC Schools in Directors’ Cup

Northwest Iowa — Dordt and Northwestern are the two highest ranked GPAC schools in the Learfield Director’s Cup NAIA standings following the completion of the fall sports season. Points are awarded to each team and school across all-sports based on national tournament finishes.

Led by 8th place finishes in both men’s and women’s cross country, Dordt finds themselves in 11th place in the NAIA with 205 points. The Defender volleyball did not advance out of pool play at the national tournament but was credited for winning a match in pool play and received points for a 9th place tie.

Northwestern is not far behind in the overall standings. The Red Raiders are in 13th place with a total of 181 points. Northwestern scored nationally with a semi-final appearance in football, quarterfinal appearance in volleyball and also the men’s soccer team which advanced to the national tournament.

You have to go all the way down to number 38 to find the next GPAC team. Jamestown has 108 points. Through the fall season, Oregon Tech and Indiana Wesleyan are tied for first with 275 points each.
