Goodwell, Oklahoma — The Dordt Defenders played Panhandle State on Saturday, March 27 and won a 53-0 decision in the first game for the Defenders since mid-November.
The Defenders wasted little time in establishing control with a pair of Michael Sondermann touchdown runs of 11 ad 65 yards.
Leading 14-0 entering the second quarter the Defenders added a field goal by Brett Zachman and a Levi Jungling eight yard carry to push the lead to 24-0 with 5:16 left in the half. Both scores capped ten-play drives. Dordt had just enough time to score twice more with Sondermann going eight yards for a score and Noah Clayberg a 43 yard score in the final minute of play before the half put Dordt up 38-0.
Anthony Trojahn scored on the first play from scrimmage in the second half for a 44-0 lead after rushing 56 yards and Sondermann capped the scoring with a 48 yard run to finish a six-play, 99 yard drive, for a 53-0 lead with 3:48 left in the third period. Zachman also had a 22 yard field goal in the third and the teams played a scoreless fourth quarter.
Dordt ran for 551 yards on 57 rushes and passed for 111 yards. Dordt’s defense limited the Aggies to 25 rushing yards and 120 passing yards.
Sondermann ran for 185 yards on 14 carries with four touchdowns.
Clayberg ran for 131 yards on 13 carries and Anthony Trojahn ran for 90 yards on 11 carries. Clayberg also went 6-13 passing for 88 yards.
Levi Jungling ran for 84 yards and Ethan Thomas ran for 39.
Jayden Huisman had two catches for 41 yards and Hayden Large had two snags for 27 yards.
Drew Daum was in on nine tackles and had three sacks.
David Kacmarynski had eight tackles with 4.5 for loss and broke up two passes.
Josh Mrazek had five tackles with two tackles for loss.
Dordt is now 8-2 and this brings the regular season to a conclusion.
