Northwest Iowa — Track and field State qualifying District meets were held across Iowa Thursday. In Class 2A area athletes gathered at Kingsley Pierson Woodbury Central. The 3A meet for area athletes was held at LeMars. Area 1A athletes were hosted by West Sioux.
The top two finishers at the District meets were automatic qualifiers for State. Once all district meets have been run the top 8 times and distances from across the state in all classes will be added to the State Meet field in both boys and girls competition.
Automatic qualifiers for Sheldon in 2A included Katie Kneif who won the Long Jump. Second place finishes for the girls were turned in by Alegra St Clair in the 400 and the 4×100 shuttle hurdle relay team. Team members include Bryn Groff, Kayla Van Meeteren, Madison Uhl and Maddie Tolk.
For the Orab boys automatic qualifiers included Darrin Greenfield who won the 110 hurdles. Second place finishes were turned in by Mark Ahlers in the 1600 and by the 4×800 relay team. Members include Mark Ahlers, Jaden Kleinhesselink, Chad Nelson and Matt Buenger.
