Dordt 4th, Northwestern 6th In GPAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll

Sioux City, Iowa – Morningside totaled 98 points and is the preseason coaches’ selection to win the 2019-20 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Championship.  The Mustangs tallied nine first place votes. Dakota Wesleyan, with 91 points and the final two first place votes, is picked second.  Jamestown was third in the balloting with 78.

Dordt is ranked 4th with 73 points and Northwestern is 6th with 58 points.

Morningside won the regular season championship last year in the GPAC, with Jamestown claiming the tournament title.  The Mustangs went 29-4 last season, while the Jimmies were 29-6.

In all, four teams (Morningside, Jamestown, Briar Cliff and Dakota Wesleyan) qualified for the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the Pentagon.  Morningside and Briar Cliff played in the Elite Eight this past March in Sioux Falls.
