Dordt 6th, NWC 7th At Siouxland Women’s Golf Invite

ORANGE CITY/SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — The Northwestern College women’s golf team placed fifth at the Siouxland Invite behind the efforts of Taylor Van Ostrand (So., Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Christian) who led the team with a 172 tournament score and team low-round of 81 from Martha Stein (So., Milford, Iowa/Okoboji). The Dordt Defender women’s golf team shot a two day total of 366-361=727 at the Siouxland Invite completed for a 6th place finish.

The Defenders were led by Kerri Kroeze’s 87-87=174 and she finished tied for 18th place in the 51 golfer field. Rachel Bostwick had an 87-91=178 to claim 20th. Dordt was 15 strokes out of fifth place in the team race won by Morningside with a 313-314=627. The Mustangs’ Laia Badosa won the event with a 72-75=627.

The Defenders had four golfers compete as individuals as well.

Northwestern’s Stein led the effort on the first day at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City with a round of 83 (+11), which proved to be the team’s low-round of the tournament. Freshman Emily Hulshof (Ireton, Iowa/West Sioux) finished third on the team behind a first round score of 87 at Landsmeer and a 92 at The Ridge this afternoon for a two-round score of 179, a mere seven strokes from the lead. Laci Davenport (Fr., Osage City, Kan./Osage) and Madison Schrack (So., Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) had identical scores both at Landsmeer and the Ridge, both finished with scores of 97-91-188 and tied for 28th overall.
