Dordt and Northwestern To Do Battle Saturday

Dordt College continues the GPAC season with a road game against Northwestern on Saturday, October 28 with a 1:00 kickoff.

Northwestern is 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the GPAC. Northwestern’s loss this season is a 48-20 loss to Morningside on September 30.  Northwestern has a pair of narrow wins over Midland and Doane which has kept them in the top-20 in the NAIA where they are currently rated no. 14.

Northwestern is averaging 35 points per game and allow 21 points per outing. Northwestern is passing for 273 yard per contest and are rushing for 203.  The defense is allowing 177 rushing yards and 209 passing yards per contest.

Dordt is 4-3 this season and 2-3 in the GPAC with losses this year to Morningside (62-23), Midland (33-28) and Concordia (24-17) in league play and a GPAC wins over Doane (21-16) and Hastings (30-23 2ot).

The Defenders average 32 points per game on offense and have allowed 26 points per game this season. The Defenders average 277 yards per game on the ground and the defense has allowed 201 yards rushing per contest. Dordt’s passing game is good for 183 yards per game and are allowing 208 yards per game in the air.  Dordt is 12-18 on its two-point conversion attempts this season.

Dordt lost a 24-17 decision to Concordia on Saturday, October 17. The Defenders tied the game in the third quarter but surrendered a touchdown early in the fourth quarter and couldn’t mount an offensive threat before falling.  Dordt ran for 227 yards and allowed 177. Concordia passed for 157 while limiting Dordt to 73. Schoonhoven had 88 yards rushing and Drury 76. Lamle completed eight passes to Levi Jungling for 77 yards and a touchdown.

Northwestern held on to defeat Doane last Saturday 31-24 with neither team scoring in the final 25 minutes of the game. Northwestern outgained Doane 398-298 with 120 on the ground for Northwestern and 278 in the air.  Kalogonis rushed for 133 yards on 32 attempts. Tyson Kooima was 23-48 passing for 279 yards with four touchdowns. Koerselman had seven catches for 91 yards and Te Brink had six catches for 97 yards.
