Dordt Baseball Drops Doubleheader

Auburndale, Florida — The Dordt baseball team dropped both Friday games. They lost game one to Thomas 17-10, and the second game to Keiser 23-11.

A 4-4 tie after three innings turned into a slugfest with Dordt losing to Thomas (Georgia) 17-10 on Friday morning. Thomas scored at least one run in each of the last four innings and scored five in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Logan Cline was 3-5 at the plate with a run batted in and two runs scored.

Austin Pullar, John Emerson, Chase Edwards, Conner Hommes and Cam Pfafman all had two hits with Edwards and Pfafman each knocking in two runs. Aaron Eshelman and Andrew Pullar each scored two runs.

Luke Turner pitched five and two-third innings and struck out nine with nine hits allowed and took the loss.

Keiser knocked out 25 hits and Dordt was unable to match Keiser’s run production in the fifth and sixth innings in falling 23-11 in the final game of the Florida trip for the Defenders.

Keiser had a 7-2 lead after three innings when Dordt plated two in the fourth. Back to back five inning frames put the Seahawks up 17-6 and both teams scored three in the seventh and two in the eighth before Keiser got a final run across in the top of the ninth inning.

Dordt had 13 hits with Andrew Pullar, Logan Cline and Chase Edwards all getting three hits. Edwards had four runs batted in. Edwards had two, two-run singles to account for his runs batted in.

Dordt hot homeruns from Nick Hamilton and Brock Spade and Aaron Eshelman had a triple while Cline had a double to account for Dordt’s extra base hit.

Diego Benitez took the loss and Dordt used seven pitchers.

Dordt is now 7-11 this season and will travel to face Dakota Wesleyan on March 19 before hosting Doane on Saturday, March 20.
