Sioux Center, Iowa — The Doane Tigers got the sweep over the Dordt Defenders Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center.

The Dordt baseball team played in their home opener Saturday afternoon vs. the Doane Tigers in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup.

Following a scoreless 1st inning, Doane opened the top of the 2nd by getting a runner on base and bringing in a run on Nate Mensik’s sacrifice fly to center field.

The Defenders opened their half of the 2nd with a home run by Nick Hamilton, his third of the season. However, Doane’s Jordan Wisner struck out the next three batters to finish the inning.

The Tigers regained the lead by scoring four runs in the 3rd inning, with 2-run home runs from both Lukas White and Joe Osborn, giving Doane a 5-1 lead.
