Dordt Baseball Falls To Thomas

Auburndale, Florida — Dordt was never able to take the lead and lost a 6-4 decision to Thomas (Georgia) in a late game Thursday night on the second to last day of the Florida trip for the Defenders.

Thomas scored two in the first and another two in the second off Dordt starter Gyeongju Kim for a 4-0 lead. The Defenders came back with two in the third when John Emerson led the inning off with a single and advanced to second with one out on a passed ball. Logan Cline then reached on an error and Emerson scored and Connor Hommes had a single that scored Cline from second base.

Thomas added another run in the fourth inning and Dordt was silent until the top of the fifth inning when Cline singled and Edwards clubbed a homerun to get the Defenders within 5-4. Dordt threatened with a runner in the sixth but Austin Puller was caught stealing to end the inning and Thomas got a run for insurance in the bottom of the sixth for the final that stood up at 6-4.

Dordt was outhit 10-8.

Kim struck out 11 and walked one for the Defenders.

Cline continues to swing a hot bat for the Defenders and was 3-4 with two runs scored.
