Dordt Football Makes Playoffs For First Time

Kansas City, Missouri — The NAIA announced the playoff qualifiers for its 16-team Football Championship Series on Sunday, April 11, and the Dordt Defenders qualified for the field for the first time in program history.

Dordt will open playoff action against Grand View (Iowa) on Saturday, April 17 at 12:00 pm. The Defenders were one of four teams to earn at-large bids in the field while Grand View qualified after winning the Heart of America North Division Championship and sports a 6-0 record entering the playoffs.

Dordt was 7-2 this season in GPAC play and finished the regular season with an 8-2 mark after a non-conference win in March over Oklahoma Panhandle State.

The Defenders are:
2nd in the NAIA in rushing, averaging 337 yards rushing per game
1st in total scoring offense in the NAIA with 471 points
Leads the NAIA in total yards per game with 559.8
1st in the nation with 41 total sacks.
